Book Screen Work in Winter and Wait Less

Screen work in San Diego follows the weather. When it warms up and the bugs come out, everyone notices the torn screen at once, and the calendar fills. In late fall and winter it is quieter, and that is the best time to get on the schedule.

Why winter is a good time
- A shorter wait for a visit. Fewer people are booking, so a visit usually comes sooner than it would in spring or summer.
- Ready before you need them. Fix the screens now and they are ready when you open the windows in spring, instead of after the bugs are already in.
- Wind damage gets fixed. Fall and winter winds pop screens out of their frames and tear mesh. A bent frame left in a window gets worse.
- The weather is fine for it. San Diego winters are mild, and most of our work is done outside at your home.
What to book first
- Torn and loose screens. A standard window rescreen is $45 and a sliding door rescreen is $95. Doing every screen in one visit makes the most of the $145 minimum.
- Solar screens for the hot side of the house. Put solar mesh on west- and south-facing windows in winter and they are in before the first heat wave (+$20 per window screen over the standard price).
- Sliding screen doors that drag or jump the track. Rollers wear slowly; fix them before the door is open every day. See screen door repair.
- New doors. Security and swinging doors always take two visits (we measure, then install when the door arrives), and retractable doors do too when your size or color has to be ordered. Booking in winter gives an ordered door time to arrive before spring.
Window prices are for standard screens. Double-hung, casement, pull-pin and other non-standard windows are quoted separately.
For property managers, HOAs and sellers

No. Our prices are the same all year, with a $145 minimum for mobile service. What changes in winter is how soon we can get to you.
